I did not look to see if there was an avatar thread but just saw the film.

I must admit that I enjoyed it. The special effects made me watch this film differently. So that was enjoyable. For example, when there were filming shots in depth, it made me think of simple 2d motion picture and I was wondering if the depth was worth the difference in filming. I'm not sure I've reached a conclusion on just one viewing of this kind of work, but it was different to judge a picture media verses another.

A lot of people have panned the storyline, but I felt okay with it. Action film, plot pretty straight forward, and antagonism pretty clear as well. Its the old civilization overreaches and gets its comeuppance.

Others?

Yeah I have seen the movie in 3d... I am not sure how I liked it (vs. 2d) but the movie itself was well made. The plot was pretty standard actually which I think made the movie that much more enjoyable... where as George Lucas just muddled together his plots in the new star wars trilogy (same thing with the Wachoski brothers and the two matrix sequels... sometimes less is more).

Anyway I left hating how crappy humans are ha ha ha... just like in Dances with wolves. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

not a bad assessment, looked at someone's top 50 and Avatar was like number 5.
